97 minutes

Claus Dobberke

Severino, a member of the South-American Manzanero Indian tribe, returns home after ten years. He had promised his father to return in order to buy land and settle with his brother somewhere in the North. Severino now wants to keep his promise; however, his brother is no longer interested in these plans. A lot has changed for the Manzaneros during Severino's absence. Severino finds out that his father's death was not accidental but murder, that cattle are being stolen from the settlers and that the Indian village was raided.

Severino wins the respect of both the Indians and the white people through his knowledge of the white man's customs. However, he makes enemies among his own people through his efforts to create peaceful coexistence for both groups. Severino stays with his tribe, his brother and Maruja, his companion, and he sacrifices his savings. Together they fight for peace for the Indians and the white settlers alike.
